Restoration of a slightly curved retaining wall segment, 7 meters long and 3 meters high, built using the dry-stone technique. This section is part of a larger wall of over 30 meters that marks the boundary between the owner’s plot and the road. Due to adverse weather conditions and the deterioration of the base, part of the wall collapsed.
The reconstruction was approached with the aim of preserving the historical value of the traditional construction method, choosing to use the same technique, as it is a cultural reference in the Urgell region and has been declared Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.
To ensure stability and prevent overturning, the wall was rebuilt with a variable cross-section — wider at the base and tapering toward the top.
The stones were laid dry, and the courses were arranged in a staggered pattern with small stones used as shims to ensure good contact between the pieces. On the inner side of the wall, smaller stones and local sand were used.
