In the heart of the old town, surrounded by the fields that give it meaning, “La Final” is revealed. With an inevitable presence in terms of both urban context and heritage, this building, born in 1881, now supports a new neighboring roof.
The doors of “La Final” open. They do so to welcome and let through the grapes that will find shelter under the canopy of the new winery. After carefully considering its surroundings, the new building chooses to maintain a discreet height and gently detach itself from the strong preexisting structure.
A new dialogue is established with “La Final”, revealing spaces that encourage relationships between the user, the existing building, and the surrounding context. It does so through an asymmetrical geometry that responds to both the obvious industrial needs and the historic relationship with the old town.
The new winery in Porrera Square looks outward to appreciate the vastness around it, while also turning inward to provide the functionality the grapes require and the comfort the people deserve.
